    Re: 1.18 Bad lag spikes

I have been getting a lot of lag spikes and was wondering what it could be, so I figured I'll look for the problem.
I might not have any great coding knowledge or similar but turns out each time the memory dump collection gets cleared said lag spike happens; so my guess is on that. Running Vanilla Minecraft gives me no problems at all with the same settings.

I have tried reinstalling Minecraft and Aristois to see if it would fix this but sadly it did not.

By default I have allocated 2GB of RAM for Minecraft so as some suggested I upped it once to 4GB and once to 6GB (I have 16GB total), nothing of this has changed anything. I also later added some launch options that could have helped with this but they did not.
(It actually never reached that point, it always cleared dump before reaching max. but only whilst running Aristois this clear lag spikes the game)

I also tested out whether it matters/helps if Optifine is installed. The lag spikes still occurred either way.

Now I'm asking if there is something else I can do since it shouldn't be necessary for an almost Vanilla Minecraft to require more than 6GB of RAM

Rather than a screenshot, here is a video because I think you get more info out ouf it.
The video was taken in an almost newly generated singleplayer world.

I don't see why this would be Aristois related at all. It could be something else.

Does it still happen if you use .panic? After using .unload?

I thought it might be Aristois related since it only occurs when i use Aristois and not Vanilla, so I figured "ask here, they may be able to help since they know more than you do".

Still happens when running as usual. Doing some tests...
Test 1: .panic - still happens, does not feel any less regular either

Test 2: .unload - still happens but way less, only about once every 15 seconds whereas with it running about once every 3 seconds

Test 3: Weirdly enough even though I think it shouldn't be the case (since unload is supposed to be Vanilla?), after starting up Vanilla Minecraft it does not happen anymore, at least not even close to as strong as before so it isn't really a bother.

Both instances have the same JVM arguments.

It's not really "fair" to compare vanilla to Aristois, because Aristois is running Fabric. Really, you should be checking if it occurs on fabricloader (0.13.3) vs aristois

Using unload does not make the game vanilla. It simply ejects Aristois.jar while continuing to run fabric and EMC

    Oh I didn't know that.

Fast forward: I'm testing out if it still happens with fabricloader installed as a seperate instance.

    Results: as expected?

So it seems that it is indeed the fabric loaders fault.
Very well, I will look for a way to contact someone who works on (?) fabric.
You can close this thread (I don't really use any forums, I just heard people saying things like this)

    Thank you for your help!
