forge 1.21.1 not installing prism launcher

i located the correct path for the launcher and get through the installation process, but when i launch the instance it is unmodified.
nothing changes in the version or mod folders. i have tried clean install and it still didn't work. is there a way to do it manually?

Are you sure you selected the forge box? This looks like a fabric install. For forge it will ask which instance to install to

The latest forge version we support is 1.20.1, so it wouldn’t even be possible to install to forge on 1.21.1

i meant 1.20.1 sorry. and yes i checked the forge box every time

it may be because of the recent prism launcher update

Search the entire prism folder for EMC.jar to see where it ended up. You can manually move it to the mods folder

the default file name was changed from ".minecraft" to just "minecraft" in prism launcher. i can fix it myself now

thanks for the help. there should probably be some sort of announcement or something with the steps on how to fix this
