Stripe FAQ and Concerns (Donation)
-
Aristois uses a company called Stripe to handle donations. But what is stripe? Is it safe? These are questions that will be covered in this post.
⠀TL;DR
Stripe is a very large company that is just as safe as any other payment platform such as PayPal.
We do not handle your information, Stripe does. We cannot view any sensitive information.
⠀Where does my card info go?
Aristois does not handle your card information in any form. All information is passed through Stripe, similar to how it would be passed through any other payment application. Card numbers are directly transmitted over HTTPS to their server that encrypt them with AES 256. This means that your card number will never be stored by Stripe, only an encryption that cannot be accessed by anyone. Unless you create an account, this encryption won't be saved. If you are still concerned, Stripe supports Google Pay and Apple Pay.
⠀Is Stripe a legit company?
Stripe was founded in 2009, since gathering hundreds of millions of dollars in investments from people, including co-founders of PayPal. Although it may not be familiar to you, it is a very reputable company and software. Stripe is certified as a PCI Level 1 Service Provider, the most stringent level of security certification available in the payments industry. They're audited by the same firm that audits Google, Apple, and Amazon.
⠀PayPal vs Stripe?
- They both have the same level of security
- They both have the same base fees
- Stripe doesn't limit what country you pay from
- Stripe is much more responsive
- In the case of issues, Stripe has faster support
⠀
I don't trust it still
Stripe has the same levels of security as PayPal does (if not more). They both do the exact same thing, but Stripe is much smoother to use with their APIs and lower fees. It is used by several popular websites and apps, including Guilded, Reddit, Spotify, Amazon, Microsoft, Volvo, Uber, Lyft, and more. If you really don't trust it, you can use Google Pay or Apple Pay which store your information outside of Stripe.
If you still have any concerns, don't hesitate to send us an email and we will be happy to answer any questions you have regarding security etc.
⠀Will you be supporting PayPal?
No. We currently support Stripe and Bitcoin.
⠀How can I use Google Pay?

- You are using Google Chrome or Safari browser

How can I use Apple Pay?
