I used java -jar ran installed successfully. The Aristois files are in the versions directory of my minecraft launcher. Yet upon trying to run, I get the error "Unable to locate game files.

Upon opening the Aristois version folder, it contains a .json, but not a .jar, so error itself isn't the mystery, it's how do I get the .jar to show up.
Though it's my understanding from testing just now with a vanilla version it starts with the json and only downloads the jar if you actually run that version, but I'm not sure if Aristois would function differently, or if it functions the same why isn't it working.
